Lillian Alice Mikell

MIKELL, Lillian Alice 87, went to be with her late husband of 60 years, Ray Mikell, on Sunday, July 2, 2017. Lillian is survived by her two sons, Larry (Debbie) and Tom (Rue), her sister, Anita Tippins, along with four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was born in Hillsborough county and raised in Tampa. She was a member of the Glee club and head cheerleader of the Jefferson High School Dragons where she graduated in 1947. Lillian attended Emory University where she earned a degree in nursing. Lillian and Ray married in Atlanta in 1950. Lillian worked in several hospitals as a head floor nurse. They moved to Temple Terrace in 1954 where she was a Little League team mom and score keeper. They joined the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club in 1961 where Lillian later became president of the Ladies Golf Association. Lillian earned a real estate license and worked as a real estate agent for many years selling multiple houses in the Tampa Bay area. Lillian enjoyed crocheting and spending summers in North Carolina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace. Lillian loved to laugh and to be around family and friends. She was a kind and loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E Lake Avenue Tampa, Fl. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 1:00 pm til service time. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
