Joy Herman was born in Tampa, but grew up in Valrico. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1960. She met her future husband, Frank DiMarco, while working at the First National Bank of Tampa. They married in 1963 and had three children. She was a dedicated wife and mother always putting her family’s needs before hers.
Joy was an accomplished seamstress, which she learned form her mother, grandmother, and at the Brandon 4-H Club. She also took up cross-stitch, quilting, and embroidery, winning many blue ribbons and awards for her handiwork. She also loved golf and traveled the country playing with Frank. She won the Palma Ceia Woman’s Club Championship in 2004 and the Women’s Memorial Tournament in 2005.
Joy was predeceased by her loving husband Frank, her parents Milton and June Herman, and her stepmother Ilif Herman. She is survived by her children Anthony (Mary Rose) of Tallahassee; Richard (Dana) of League City, Texas; Michael of Tampa; and seven grandchildren, Frank, James, Mary Joy, Richard Jr., Tiffany, Jack, and Chance. She is also survived by her sister, Caryl Rae (Chuck) Zink and sister in law Alice Herman.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, May 21st at Blount & Curry 605 S. MacDill Ave. The funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday May 22nd at Blount & Curry. Burial service will follow at 1 pm at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will then receive friends and family at her apartment.
Pallbearers at the service are: Anthony DiMarco, Richard DiMarco, Michael DiMarco, Frank DiMarco, James DiMarco, and Richard DiMarco, Jr.
