KERRIGAN, John “Jack”, 91, of Temple Terrace, Florida, formerly of Sarasota, Florida, passed away May 25th, 2015 after a rich and full life. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Frances Kerrigan and daughter Anne Barr. Jack was born May 15, 1924 to Michael “John” and Mary “Mamie” Kerrigan in Hubbard, Ohio. He grew up in Pontiac, Michigan, graduated from St. Michaels’ High School and from General Motors Institute (predecessor to Kettering Institute). Jack proudly served during WWII as a P-51 fighter pilot for the US Army Air Corps in the 339th Fighter Group. He spent his entire work career with GM and retired as Production Manager from the Hamilton, Ohio plant. Along with his wife, Jack was a founding member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sarasota, Florida. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading and woodworking. His greatest joy was his family who recognized how fortunate they were to have him in their lives. After his wife’s passing he continued the good times living with his son, Mike where they shared joys of sports and sports bars with big screen TV’s and the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. His family saw his faith, wisdom and sense of humor remain strong to the end. Those who knew him were blessed and ninety-one years was too brief. Survivors include son, Mike; daughter, Mary “Maggie” Kerrigan-Mares, her husband, Craig Mares; grandchildren, Patrick, John and Katie Mares, Stephanie Finnegan, Beth Keifer, Andrea Johnson, Jennifer Johnson and Brian Barr. A mass of celebration will be held Saturday, June 13th, 11a.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 7900 Bee Ridge Rd in Sarasota, Florida. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of your local parish.
