Jeffrey Lawrence Greenacre passed away on Wednesday July 20, 2022, in Tampa, FL with his wife and son by his side.
Jeff was born in DeKalb, IL to Larry & Jane Greenacre and grew up alongside his amazing sister, Jackie. After earning an Undergraduate degree in Business and Information Technology from Whittier College and a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University, he began his career teaching at Indiana University. He then accepted a position with GTE Data Services; which would eventually bring him to the place he would call home for more than 50 years, Tampa, FL.
Jeff’s move to Tampa brought him a life full of love, prosperity, and adventure. He met the love of his life and wife of 48 wonderful years, Donna Greenacre. They were partners in love and life. Recognizing a growing need for professional services for community associations in an ever-changing real estate industry, Donna and Jeff started Greenacre Properties in 1974. Jeff’s work ethic and go-getter personality helped him quickly grow the business. He gained the respect of the Tampa Bay community and brought on many clients over the years, some of which are still managed by Greenacre Properties today.
In August of 1978, Jeff and Donna welcomed their son, Ryan Greenacre, into the world. As a family, they loved boating and all activities close to the ocean. They spent most of their free time at Shell Key Island in St. Pete, lobstering in the Florida Keys, or just relaxing and “living the dream” in the Bahamas. Jeff truly lived his life to the fullest and loved his wife and son with all his heart.
Jeff and Ryan worked together for many years, building on the success of Greenacre Properties, and with pride in his heart, Jeff passed the torch to Ryan in 2015. Using the knowledge, morals, and ethics bestowed to him by his father, Ryan was able to grow the company into the largest privately owned management company in the state of Florida. Ryan still runs the company today and carries on the culture and values Jeff always envisioned.
In addition to Donna and Ryan. Jeff is survived by his beautiful Granddaughters, Natalie and Leah; Sisters and Brothers-In-Law, Jackie and Rich Kearney and Lynn and Jim Smith; Nieces and Nephews, Kim and Joe Vranicar, Rich and Amy Kearney, and Craig and Maggie Mortier and all of their children.
The funeral service will be held at Grace Family Church (5101 Van Dyke Rd) on Sunday, July 31st at 3PM. There will be a celebration of Life held at TPC County Club (5300 W Lutz Lake Fern Rd) following the service. All are invited to both.
Flowers may be sent to Blount & Curry Funeral Home (3207 W Bearss Ave); however, in lieu of sending flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Heart Association.
