Jeanette Carol Wilcott Tucker, age 84, died at her home in Apollo Beach, Florida, on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:02 a.m. surrounded by her family. This was her second battle with Cancer, she successfully fought and survived breast cancer at age 32. Born March 7, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Cleo Wilcott, she attended the Wheaton College for Girls, where she graduated in 1952. She lived in many different places -- including Germany -- before settling in Florida, where she worked for the Hillsborough County School Board. Mrs. Tucker or Nannie, as she was affectionately known as, by her family and students alike, was a Head Start teacher's aide for over 25 years until she retired. Jeanette will be especially remembered for her quick wit, spirit of adventure, and the tenaciousness that allowed her to always be on the go and in the know all the way until her final days. Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Stevens A. Tucker, her 5 children, Roy (Carla) Austin, Joy (Jack) Fisher, Cindy (Dennis) Monroe, Keith (Judy) Austin, and Kevin Austin, she also was the proud Nannie to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, this also included many surrogate grandchildren whom claimed her as their own throughout the years. Jeanette was recently preceded in death by her son in law Jack. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 20, at the Blount and Curry Funeral Home at, The Garden of Memories 4207 E. Lake Ave. Tampa, Florida. Burial will be held in private. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception at the home of Roy & Carla immediately following.
