James J. Valenti

James “Jimmy” Valenti entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 18, 2022. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 66 years, Mary Theresa Valenti; son, James P. Valenti; daughter, Ann Lumia and her husband Spencer. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Annabella Lumia, Andrew Valenti, Salvatore Lumia, and Katherine Valenti.

Born in 1931 in Ybor City, Jimmy was a Tampa native and the son of Vincenzo Valenti and Annie Dato Valenti. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, where he fell in love with his high school sweetheart and future wife. Jimmy had a great work ethic and was a natural salesman. He took pride in his 40-year career at Southern Wine and Spirits before retiring in 2001 as Vice President and General Sales Manager.

Jimmy will be remembered for his generous spirit, loyalty, impeccable style, effortless charm, witty quips, and most importantly, devotion to his family. The imprint he left on our hearts will be with us forever. Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Internment will take place at 1:00 pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you can make a contribution in Jimmy’s name to the Jesuit High School scholarship fund.
