McDermott, James Anthony “Jim” 93, of Tampa passed away October 11, 2015. He was born on May 8, 1922 in New York City and raised in New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Dora B., “Dee” McDermott. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Denise Jerome of Sacramento, California, Suzanne Brown of Tampa, and one son Dennis H. McDermott of Tampa; two sisters, Elise Von Doehrn of Bradenton and Claire Cole of Whitehouse, OH; two grandsons, John and Damian Sivak of California, one granddaughter, Lacey Brown of Tampa; and two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Bronwyn Sivak of California and many nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired after 37 years of service with the Veterans Administration Southeast Regional Office in St. Petersburg. He was a member of Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, Palma Ceia Masonic Lodge 290, Scottish Rite, Egypt Shrine, Tin Lizzie Unit, Honor Patrol Unit, Order of Quetzalcoatl, Showmens’ Shrine Club, Kentucky Colonels Shrine Club and Americus Shrine Circus Director. A memorial service will be held at 3pm Saturday, October 24th at Palma Celia United Methodist Church. Private interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery at a later date.
