Howell Owen Thomas

Mr. Thomas was born to the late George Garfield Thomas Sr. and Janie Lou Doss Thomas of Calvary, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia and received the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration, the degree of Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and later the degree of Juris Doctor (JD). While there, he met and later married Alice Vivien Murphey of West Point (Troup and Harris Counties), Georgia. Mr. Thomas entered the United States Army in 1954 and served abroad in the Canal Zone of Panama. Following his return to the United States, he transitioned to the United States Army Reserve and received an Honorable Discharge in 1962. Howell and Vivien moved to Tampa, Florida in 1958 and began a family. They joined the congregation of Bayshore Baptist Church in 1966. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by Vivien, his wife of 44 years. He is survived by his children, Carolyn Boghich (Mark), James Thomas (Marian), Susan Thomas; his grandchildren, Allison Thomas, Natalie Boghich (Jay); and his great-grandchildren, Alaïa and Jaylen, and many nieces and nephews

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 12:00 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home - MacDill Avenue, 605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Dr. Scott L. Stearman. Interment with Honor Guard will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held Friday, June 16, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home - MacDill Avenue.
