Gerry was the head basketball coach at Bishop Sullivan High School when I transferred there in 10th grade. Hard to believe he was only 30yrs years old.  His personality and enthusiasm for the game was unmatched!  Thank you for the memories Coach Williams.  We will always treasure our time with you.

You forgot to mention he was a rock star.  He made a 45 in 1977 that everyone at St, Aloysius elementary had a copy of.  RIP Buzz

Dear Williams family, 
I was extremely sad to read about Gerald's death. We were in the same class at St. Aloysius and he is forever in my photo albums on the top row of all of our class pictures. I was always on the bottom. I had the pleasure of sitting next to him(if memory serves)in Sr. Louise(Louie) Mary's class in the 8th grade. After receiving 2 consecutive "talks excessively" on my report card, my parents insisted I be moved. I will always remember Gerald's husky laugh and humorous antics towards other classmates. With heartfelt sympathy I am praying for all of you.

It was an honor to be invited to Gerry's services with you and your wonderful family.  Although we did not know him well, it is very clear that he was an outstanding man who loved his family and lived his life with God by his side.

Randy and I were so sorry to read of "Buzz's" death. I know he had fought a courageous battle and is now in God's loving arms with no more pain and suffering. I worked at Ricoh with Gerry for many years.  I consider him one of my mentors and still keep a coin in my desk that he gave me many years ago.  It reads "Lead with Action" and I think that personifies Gerry in so many areas of his life, be it participant, coach, husband, father, boss, co worker or friend.  I know he made me a better person and I'm sure everyone reading this feels the same. He will truly be missed by many that he has impacted during his life.  
My thoughts and prayers are with his family that he loved so much.

My heart is heavy, and my eyes full of tears as I mourn the loss of  my friend.  Gerry was a very generous and caring person.  He had a tremendous impact on my life. My family never met him, but they know him as the coach who taught me how to shoot a basketball, and that changed my life forever.  He was a great teacher of basketball and life.  I was blessed to have him as a coach from 7th grade at St. Aloysius through my Senior year at Catholic High. He was a great mentor to many of us during that time in our lives.  He will be missed, but I will always cherish the memories of my friend and coach. The feeling of loss is heavy, but I take comfort knowing that my brother in Christ is in Heaven this day.  His family is in our prayers.

I am very sadden to hear about Gerald.  Gerald played basketball together in middle and High School, and my father, D.R., coached both of us in 7th grade (when we won the championship.  My family will keep Gerald in our prayers.

I worked with Gerry a short time at IKON/RICOH. One thing is for sure he had a larger than life presence and he will be missed. My deepest sympathies to his family!

While it has been a while since we had regular contact, Gerry has always remained a dear friend and brother.  He was a great guy, a good friend, a talented musician and a great best friend and "best man" when I married. I spent many an entire weekend with him in HS and College. We shared a mutual love for music and in doing so I grew to know and love his family as if they were my own.  While we have been apart all these years, I am glad to know how loved he was by family and friends.  

I send my love and gratitude to all his Baton Rouge family and Tampa family for allowing me to be a part of his life.  Indeed he was a wonderful Grandson, son, brother, husband, father, uncle and all round dear man in the lives of so many.

My dear brother Gerry,  thank you for everything you have done for me in the past but most of all thank you for loving my sister and her he boys.  You are now in a place that will be your home forever. I love you and will see you some day once again.

Gerry was always as good as gold to be around and Heaven welcomed home one of the most genuinely good spirited men that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I go back a long way with remembering Gerry.  He moved next door to us when he was about 2 or 3.  My daughter, Kahne Strickland McDowell, Gerry and Mary Jane played every day until time to come in for the night.  He was a treasure to me, little Buzzy, and a blessing for his family.  We don't understand God's reasoning for why things happen but we trust His will for our lives.  Be so happy God gave him to you for as long as He did.  Prayers for you all.

Uncle Gerry will forever be missed. He was the definition of a true gentleman with a kind, sweet soul. I am grateful to know him.To the rest of the family, I love you and I am thinking about you.

Lorie and family, once again we are saying goodbye on this side to someone we all loved and cherished.  Once again, we may not understand.  But God knows and cares for us all. This life is just a place we're passing through.  It is not our home.  I pray each day we are all striving to make Heaven our eternal home.  I only knew him briefly, but what a lasting impression he has made and left.  May he rest in peace with the Lord.  Thank you Gerry for the memories.  We'll see you on the other side.
