Frankie Augusta Roberts, 91, passed away peacefully in her home in Seffner, Florida on November 2nd, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Thomas “Buck” Roberts, her children Bradley Farmer, Pepper Alger, Thomas Farmer, Brandy Farmer, Sherri Burns and Carol Farmer, her niece Sheena Hart and nephew Frank Tuten, her brother Robert Michael Tuten Sr., her sister Cheryl Henderson, her best friend and sister-in-law Elizabeth “Betty” Tuten, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Frankie, who also went by mom, mama, granny and GG, was born in Shady Groves, Florida but was raised in Perry, Florida. She moved to Tampa, Florida and while watching a baseball game, she met Thomas “Buck” Roberts and 22 days later, they were husband and wife. Frankie led a wonderful and loving life. She was a “Rosie The Riveter” welding ships during WW2 where, being the strong woman that she was, went into the management office wearing her high heels and a dress and quit because she was not being paid the same as men for doing a man’s job. She also worked in the cafeteria at Tampa Bay Tech. Frankie and her husband adopted their daughter, Carol and lived happily in Temple Terrace eventually settling in Seffner on 3 acres where they raised cattle. She loved to tell stories of where she had been and what she had done in life. Stories about her 2 birds, one who would say “I can’t talk!” and the other would reply, “Keep on trying”. Her stories of the bull in the front pasture that became too big to play with. Her favorite things in life was taking care of her yard and flowers, enjoying the company of her family and friends, playing with all of her great grandchildren, and making sure everyone had enough to eat. She and her husband would eventually adopt all 5 of their grandchildren, raising them as their own and making sacrifices to ensure that their children always had what they needed. They sold the 3 acres and moved to their forever home in Seffner where they enjoyed many years of love and laughs. She will be forever in our hearts and will be missed always. To know her, was to love her. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:30 pm, Monday, Nov. 7 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home in Tampa.
