FRANK DOMINICK SCALISE, JR., age 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2019. Frank was born in Tampa, Florida. He attended Chamberlain High School and graduated in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army.
From the time Frank was a small boy, he loved Christmas trees. He started by picking up string and branches. He continued to work the tree lots with L & M Trees for many years. Finally, Frank decided to open his own business, F & J Christmas Trees in 2006. He managed the lot up until this year, when he became too ill to continue.
Frank was an electrician by trade and worked for MGM Electric. He loved his work and did not want to retire. Even in the hospital, Frank kept saying he wanted to go back to work.
Golf was also an important part of Frank’s life. He loved to play golf. He often played in the men’s league at Babe Zaharias Golf Course. He played in many tournaments and was especially proud of playing in the Italian Invitational in 1983.
Frank is survived by his wife, Patricia Scalise; mother, Louisa Janet Scalise; sons, Frank D. Scalise, III, Joseph G. Scalise (Elaine), and Mark A. Scalise; step-daughter, Georgia Davakos; step-son, Peter Davakos; brother, Anthony Scalise (Ellen); sister-in-law, Janet Booth; grandchildren, great-grandchildren on the way, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
Frank will be sorely missed. He always had a smile and was constantly helping family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 14920 Hutchison Road, Tampa, Florida 33625, with a reception to follow.
