Frances Clemons Smith

Frances Clemons Smith, 74 of Tampa passed away on January 28, 2020. She was a Tampa Native and loved Florida and the beach. She was married to Arnold (Butch) William Smith for 54 years and were together for 59 years. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary (Betty) Johnson Clemons and father Forrest Edward Clemons Sr. She is survived by her husband Arnold Smith, daughter Elizabeth Hatfield (Michael), son Steven Smith (Laura), Grandson Joshua Hatfield and Granddaughter Megan Hatfield.

Frances grew up in the Seminole Heights area and graduated from Hillsborough High School (1963). She attended St. Pete Junior College. While Arnold was in the Navy they were stationed in Kingsville, TX. After being honorably discharged they moved back to Tampa. After their children graduated Frances work for the Hillsborough County School System and The Dept. of Transportation with the State of Florida until she retired with health issues.

Frances was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church for the past 20 years and prior was a member of Lake Carroll Baptist Church for over 20 years. While at Lake Carroll her greatest memory was helping new Christians with their baptisms. She taught Sunday School with her daughter and participated in many activities.

Services will be held at Buchanan Baptist Church on Monday, February 3, 2020. Visitation is from 11:30 - 1:30pm with the funeral service immediately following. She will be laid to rest at Lake Carroll Cemetery.
