April 13, 1944 – December 14, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Florian Bachmeier, a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend to many. Florian passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at the age of 80.
Florian was born on April 13, 1944, in Neumirschitz, Czechoslovakia, the youngest of six sons to Paulina and Josef Bachmeier. He emigrated to the United States when he was 9 years old and joined his brothers in Chicago, Illinois where he met the love of his life and his best friend, Ingrid Angela Metz, with whom he shared almost 53 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Florian lived a life full of love and dedication to his family and community. He provided unwavering support and wisdom, fostering a strong and close-knit family. As a father, Florian was devoted to his four children: Sabrina (Mike Henry), Daniela (Juan Morales), Harrison (Christina Carracedeo), and Kassandra (Michael Spoliansky). He provided unwavering support, wisdom, and unconditional love, fostering a strong and close-knit family. As an uncle, he was regarded as the playful one to his many nieces and nephews. Once his children were grown, he and Ingrid provided a loving home to 9 foster children between newborn to 2 years of age, over four years. Florian’s legacy continues through his nine adored grandchildren; Mikayla, Jocelyn, Christian, Braeden, Sophia, Natalia, Mattaes, Bianca and Rhea, who brought immense joy and pride into his life.
Florian was an avid soccer player in his youth and later shared his love of soccer through occasionally coaching and refereeing kids’ soccer games. He also enjoyed downhill skiing and playing golf. He was always chasing “the perfect swing”.
Over the years, he dedicated his time serving the Catholic Church in various roles such as lecturer and Eucharistic minister. His strong faith and his commitment to prayer, service, and compassion ensured his place in heaven.
His absence leaves a void in our hearts, but his spirit, love, and wonderful memories will live on forever. Florian's life was a reflection of the impact of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to the Alzheimer's Association to help advance research and for care and support for Alzheimer's patients and their families.
