David Alden "Dave" Luhrsen 80, passed away on September 19, 2022. in Tampa. David was born to Donald and Roberta Luhrsen on September 23, 1941. He was a National Merit Scholar in High School before accepting a Naval ROTC Scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania, From which he graduated and entered the United States Marine Corps in early May 1963.
He married the love of his life, Nancy Campbell "Jill" Garber on May 25, 1963 in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
David served in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966, flying over 550 combat helicopter missions. He left the Marine Corps in 1969 and later graduated from Jacksonville University, the University of Tama and the University of South Florida with two Ph.D. degrees. He worked as a real estate executive, college Professor and Dean, and, finally, as a private coach and mentor for senior business leaders.
He was a church elder, proud Rotarian and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. His career achievements, recognitions, and charitable works are too numerous to list, but his favorite things were seeing his Jill or hearing her voice, being together with all of his children, seeing a Marine in uniform, and hearing Amazing Grace.
While a teen-ager he learned about Jesus Christ and was confirmed as a member of a local church. Beginning in his mid-309s he and his family were members of a local congregation. During a weekend church retreat in 1983 he experienced the grace of God in a very personal way.
During the remaining 38 years of his life, he was a consistent reader and studier of the Bible; he invested significantly in creation apologetics, the C.S. Lewis Society, and the Tampa Bay Men's Bible Study.
David is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jill; their children, Steven (Jennifer), Jeffrey and Laura Lindsey (Greg); grandchildren, Catherine, Grace, Benjamin, Valerie, Jackson, Matthew and Erin; and five great-grandchildren. Dave us also survived by his sister, Martha "Lynne"Luhrsen. His first grandchild Amanda, will welcome him to Heaven. She preceded him in death in 2019.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Tampa Covenant Church, 13320 Lake Magdalene Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33618 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service will follow from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a reception.
A graveside service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Highway 72, Sarasota, Florida 34241 with Marine Honors at 1:30pm.
