Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Charles spent his early years in Stockton, California, where he graduated from Lincoln High School. He went on to pursue higher education at Auburn University, where he played football, and later at the University of Tampa, laying the foundation for a successful and people-centered career.
Charles began his professional life with IBM, where he thrived on the sales force, and later found deep fulfillment working as a project manager for his longtime friend Rick Johnson’s painting company.
A true people person, Charles was never happier than when surrounded by family and friends. He had a lifelong love for live music, and you could often find him at Top Shelf Sports Lounge, holding court and spinning stories for anyone willing to listen. He cherished time with his beloved son, Joe, and found great joy in reconnecting with old friends and visiting his brother Kendall and family in Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Whitfield Boyd and Marjorie Boyd, and his sister, Jody Harter. He is survived by his devoted son, Joe Boyd; his brother Kendall Boyd and wife Theresa; nephews Houston and Cary Boyd; brother-in-law Wylie Harter; niece Kelleen, and nephew Kevin and his family. He also leaves behind Pam Drake—his former spouse and a supportive friend in recent years.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held on April 26, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Top Shelf Sports Lounge, located at 3173 Cypress Ridge Blvd., Wesley Chapel, FL 33544. All who knew and loved Charles are welcome to join in honoring his life, laughter, and stories.
