Carolyn Cole Corr passed away on August 30, 2022. She approached life with strong faith, dignity, and a positive upbeat attitude. Carolyn was born in West Palm Beach on February 8, 1942. She graduated from Palm Beach High School where she was an honor student, cheerleader, Student Council officer and Homecoming Queen. She attended Stephens College and FSU. She married and moved to Tampa in the 1960s where she raised her three children. Carolyn took an enthusiastic role in all her children’s activities, including those of their friends. She will be lovingly remembered for her endless generosity and joy in her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Carolyn was always impeccably dressed and born with a creative flair which led to a successful career as an interior designer for 40 years. She was a Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Tampa, member of Weeders Garden Club, and served as an Ambassador of the Tampa History Museum. Carolyn attended Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church and was a member of several Bible Studies and Prayer Groups, all of which she greatly cherished.
Throughout her life Carolyn delighted all who knew her with her zany personality. She never failed to see the humor in life; even when there was not much to laugh about. Carolyn was vivacious, fun, funny, kind, and loving. She greatly valued and loved her friends and they returned that love enthusiastically.
Although she loved her native state of Florida, her special refuge was her mountain retreat in Sapphire Valley, NC. She claimed that the bears, hummingbirds, deer and wild turkeys were her ever present friends and neighbors. There she found peace and joy in the beautiful gardens she created and in her friends whom she entertained with love and laughter. She especially treasured the times when her family visited their beloved “Gram C” at her Bear Paw Retreat in the mountains.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents, Edna Bremer Cole and Bertram Dudley (BD) Cole Jr. and her brother, Bertram Dudley Cole III. She is survived by her children: Camaron Corr (Sarah), Daryl Corr (Cindy) and Kristin Corr Medina (fiancé Michael); grandchildren: Olivia Corr Carlson, Savannah Corr, Joshua Medina, Jeremy Medina, Connor Corr, and Griffin Corr; and great-grandsons: George Carlson and Camaron Carlson. Carolyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 2:00pm, conducted by Pastor John D. DeBevoise at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 West San Jose St, Tampa, FL 33629. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carolyn’s memory to Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church (address above) or Urban Young Life at 2121 E. 131st Ave. Tampa, FL 33612.
