It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Caridad Dieguez, a cherished soul whose life was a beacon of kindness, strength, and compassion. Caridad left this world on December 14, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on October 5th, 1934, in Cardenas, Cuba, Caridad was a devoted son, sibling, husband, father and abuelo. He lived his life with grace, generosity, and a profound sense of purpose. Caridad was always willing to lend a helping hand, his home was always open for anyone who needed a place to stay or a plate of food to eat.
Caridad’s warmth and wisdom extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of everyone he encountered.
In 1961 he stepped foot in the United States of America through New Orleans, Louisiana. He worked hard to bring his five siblings along with his mother and stepfather. He decided to move to New York to work in the hotel/restaurant industry. At this point in his life, he accomplished his goal of reuniting with his entire family as he promised when he left Cuba.
He eventually made his way to Tampa, Florida where he met the love of his life in his sister’s backyard. They ended up getting married 6 months into their relationship. They created a beautiful family, first a daughter and then a son.
Caridad is survived by his beloved wife Cecilia D Dieguez, his daughter Michelle D Brown (Justin) and his son David Dieguez (Leire), his only surviving sibling Alfonso Dieguez, his grandchildren Sophia L Sarduy, Justin Brown Jr, Nahia Dieguez, Milia Dieguez, Stella M Sarduy, Arielle S. Brown, and Sebastian A. Brown and countless extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Caridad’s life at a service to be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E LAKE AVE, Tampa, FL 33610. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 4207 E LAKE AVE, Tampa, FL 33610. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Garden of Memories, 4389 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610.
While Caridad’s physical presence may no longer grace us, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the love he so freely gave. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
