Angelo Spicola, 86, passed peacefully at his home in Odessa, FL, on December 13, 2023, surrounded by his family. Angelo is survived by his wife of 65 years Joyce Capitano Spicola. Together Angelo and Joyce raised three children—Kelly Rose Miliziano (John), Gregory Angelo Spicola (Cande), and Allison Joyce Cuffaro (Pasquale). Angelo's legacy extends through five cherished grandchildren: Vincenzo Angelo Cuffaro, Angelica Rose Cuffaro, Anthony Pasquale Cuffaro, Sophia Anna Miliziano, and Joseph Salvatore Miliziano. Also Survived by Brother Charlie Spicola (Antoinette) and Sister Judy Spicola Bokor (Richard).
Angelo Charles Spicola was born on January 22, 1937 to Sicilian immigrants Lillian and Carlo G Spicola. As a young boy growing up in Palmetto Beach, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing in the bay, and excelled in skeet shooting, winning the Junior National Championship in Skeet Shooting at 14 years old.
Angelo was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School, and later distinguished himself as a Gator Alumni, having graduated from the University of Florida Business College. Angelo served as the esteemed President of Spicola Hardware Co. in Ybor City. Subsequently, he ventured into entrepreneurship, as CEO of the Florida State Trade Shows Inc. until his retirement. Even in retirement Angelo continued to enjoy hunting with his son Gregory and grandsons. He led the family on annual fishing and lobstering trips to the Keys with all the grandkids, and most importantly attended every activity his children and grandchildren were involved in.
Angelo Spicola was more than a devoted family man. He was an active participant in his community. As a proud founding member of the 1st Volunteer Cavalry Regiment of Rough Riders. He served many terms as President of the Ybor City Lions Club, known for efforts in sight conservation. Through many activities, he instilled a sense of civic duty in both his children and grandchildren, as they fondly remember delivering teddy bears to children in hospitals, selling raffle tickets and competing in Bocce Ball Tournaments for Lion’s Club. In recognition of his outstanding philanthropic contributions and civic-mindedness, Angelo was honored with the prestigious Sam D. Leto Award in 2010 for his lifetime work in supporting the various cultural organizations in Ybor City.

A visitation for Angelo will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 E LAKE AVE, TAMPA, FL 33610.
