Alma Paulet Smith, 84, passed away quietly on March 30, 2017 at home. Alma was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1932 and moved to Tampa in 1938. She attended elementary school in Flatbush, NY, elementary and middle school in Tampa at Academy of Holy Names. She went to high school at Plant (Tampa) and graduated from a Brooklyn High School. She went to the University of Louisville and University of Tampa Nursing schools. She met her future husband on the train returning from NY while he was transferring to MacDill AFB. They married 2 years later and started a family abroad and when they settled back in Tampa. Alma was preceded in death by her mother, Lavina Guckert; father, Fredrick Paulet; stepmother, Anita Paulet; stepfather, Christopher Guckert; husband, Clayton Smith, Sr; grandson, Jordan Smith and brother-in-law, Bill Laswell. Alma is survived by brother, Jules Lee Paulet(Betsy); sister, Desiree Paulet; sister-in-law, Carolyn Laswell; daughter, Kathleen Ware(Jon); sons, Clayton Smith Jr, Christopher Smith (Laura) and Stephan Smith; grandchildren, Carla, Claude, Adam, Jon and Jacqueline; great-grandsons, Donovan and Adrian; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom will be missed dearly and our hearts will forever be filled with love and a grateful blessing for her being our Mother. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home – Carrollwood with the family receiving one hour prior.
