Richardson, Alice Celine, 87, of Lutz passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Alice was born on May 1, 1930 in Mount Kisco, NY to the late Richard Edwin and Alice M Forrest. Alice is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Jack B Richardson and beloved daughters, Cathy L Richardson and Laurie A Richardson. Alice is survived by her brother, Richard P Forrest; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Conley of Coalwood, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Alice retired from Hillsborough District Schools in 2003 after a 51 year teaching career. Alice began teaching as a music specialist at Seminole Elementary School in 1951. She then followed her husband Jack to Japan, where she taught and served as director of a kindergarten for three years. She remained in music education until her retirement from Alexander Elementary School. Alice and Jack funded in 1984 the Laurie Ann Richardson Endowed Memorial Scholarship for Master Degree candidates in the department of Special Education, University of South Florida; to honor their daughter Laurie Ann who died in an automobile accident in 1984 at the age of 21, one week before graduating from that department. The Cathy Lynn Richardson Endowed Memorial Scholarship for Doctoral candidates in Special Education was funded by Alice and Jack to honor their disabled daughter Cathy. These perpetual scholarships were a source of pride for Alice and Jack. The Richardson Family legacy is dedicated in part to the premise that those who pursue a career teaching, helping, and caring for individuals with special needs have chosen a noble and worthy profession. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Alice’s honor to Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 2510 E Hanna Ave, Tampa, FL 33610, where Alice and Jack were proud of being one of the Church’s founding families. A visitation will be from 10-11am with funeral service at 11am on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Blount & Curry Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, burial will follow with procession to Lutz Cemetery. www.BlountCurryCarrollwood.com
