William J. Blommel, 84, departed the loving arms of his family and placed into the hands of God on January 28, 2012.
Born August 17, 1927 in Racine, Wisconsin, to Herman and Dorothy he was the adored eldest of nine children. Bill said his life began when he met and married Mona Lee (nee) McNab on January 2, 1952. Family was of utmost importance to Bill and they soon had sons Richard (Brenda) and Ron. He was a graduate of Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. Following his Air Force career as a meterologist, Bill worked in the Aerospace Services Division, Pan American World Airways at Cape Kennedy where he was recognized for his contribution to "Man's First Lunar Footprint" in July 1969. Moving to Tallahassee in 1972, he worked as an Administrator for the Florida Environmental Protection Agency until his retirement in 1992. He loved traveling, woodworking, genealogy and outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard; his brothers, Charles and David; his sisters, Betty Glassen and Marguerite Maier.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mona; his son, Ron; his grandson, R. Justin (Megan); and sisters, Christine, Mary Ann Glassen (Paul), Dorothy Moldenauer (Bill), Laurie Carter (Ron); many loving nieces, nephews, loyal friends and caregivers and his loyal dog, Rudy.
Celebration of Life services will held on February the 11th at 11:00 a.m at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Fl 32312.

Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
