Wayne Clarence Voigt was born in October, 1943 in Valdosta, Georgia to his parents the late Clarence Frank Voigt and Henrietta Doris Wilson Voigt. He graduated from Valdosta State College with a B.A. Degree. He then got a Masters Degree in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Mississippi.
Wayne retired from the State of Florida after 37 years of service in various high level managerial positions. The last 22 years of his career he served as Staff Director of the Florida Senate Natural Resources Committee. He worked on any important environmental laws enacted between 1981 and 2003. The lobbyists in the Senate called him the 41st Senator. He told them not to say that in front of any senator
Wayne enjoyed hunting ducks, doves and quail in his younger days, He especially loved fishing all his life with his father, wife & children mostly at the Suwannee River. After retiring Wayne enjoyed playing golf with his good friend Rock.
He and his wife enjoyed many summers in Portland, Oregon visiting their girls and friends, They also enjoyed taking numerous cruises in the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Alaska and Canada.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Carolyn (Lynne) Voigt and daughters Melissa Voigt Templar (Jon) and Kimberly S. Voigt both of Tallahassee now. along with granddaughters Hailey N. Templar and Addison L. Templar plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Wayne will be held after the holidays on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Big Bend Hospice or a charity of your choice.
