Theodore "Ted" R. Miller

Theodore Robert Miller (“Ted”), 69, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away July 10, 2020. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on May 21, 1951. Ted graduated from Essex Catholic High School in 1969 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Johns University in New York in 1973.

He married Susan Marie Gase on September 25, 1976 in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where he lived until relocating to Tallahassee in 1990.

Ted earned his CPA designation in 1992 and worked for the Florida Department of Revenue for 28 years until his retirement 2013.

Ted always had a passion for law enforcement and joined the Leon County Sheriff’s Auxiliary in 1993. Remarkably, at the age of 50, he went through the police academy to become a member of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Posse. He ultimately ascended to the rank of Lieutenant and was honored as the Reserve Posse Officer of the Year in 2019. Ted used his retirement from the State to spend more time with his law enforcement passion, and worked as a Bailiff at the Leon County Courthouse until taking a step back earlier this year.

Previously, Ted had served on the board of the Score Federal Credit Union in the late 90s and was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, having participated in the Saturday evening mass church choir throughout the 90s. Ted had a passion for anything Irish, but especially traditional Irish music and the soda bread he would regularly bake for special friends.

Always ready to lend a hand (or his handiness) to those in need, Ted will be lovingly remembered for his humor and big heart.

In addition to his wife Sue, Ted will be fondly remembered by his daughter Dottie (Jay) Watson, son Rob (Becca), grandchildren Camryn and Wyatt, grand-dogs Cocoa, Tally, and Maverick, and sister Val Mays of Chelsea, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be held on July 15, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Rd, Tallahassee, Florida. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 16, 2020 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 4665 Thomasville Rd, Tallahassee, Florida. Graveside Committal will be held on July 16, 2020 at 12:30 pm at MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Rd, Tallahassee, Florida. Catered Reception Following Interment at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Rd, Tallahassee, Florida.
