Born in Coffs Harbour, Australia, October 18th, 1944 to Robert E. Sigler, Sr. and Lorraine Joan Manewell. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane E. Sigler, his daughter Sheri Wedmore-Vance of Noblesville, IN (husband Victor Vance and son Deacon), his son Brian E. Sigler of Muncie, IN (daughters Courtney, Victoria, and son Jackson Sigler), and their son Scott A. Sigler of Tallahassee, FL (wife Wilda Sigler and daughters Sterling and Cassidy Sigler). Raised in Alexandria, IN, Bob was a graduate of Ball State University, earning a B.S. in Teaching Education with a major in Social Studies and minor in American History, World History and Economics in July, 1970, and a Master of Art with a Major in Economics and minor in American History in November of 1971. He was a Life Loyal member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He began a long and successful career in the trucking industry with Central Cartage of Detroit, MI, in 1976. Promoted to Controller of Universal Am-Can in 1983, and then Economy Transport, Inc. of Tampa, FL, as Vice President, and returned to Detroit to develop Universal Truckload Services, Inc., in 1994, where he retired as Executive Vice President, in 2014, after 38 years of devotion and leadership.
Bob committed himself with excellence to all of his endeavors both professional and personal. He loved sports, casting a dry fly to a rising fish, and all things automotive, especially racing. He became a top-flight judge with the National Corvette Restoration Society (NCRS), was an avid enthusiast of native and early American History. He was captivated by the ocean, getting his SCUBA certification at the age of 17, crafting detailed model ships, and read voluminously about the sea.
