Richard Frank Watkins passed away Sunday morning October 3rd in Tallahassee Florida. He was at home surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 74 years young, survived by his spouse of 51 years Carmelita Watkins, his son Samuel (Mary Ellen) Watkins, his daughter Pamela Watkins (Andrew) Page, his sister Deborah Watkins (Wayne) Middlebrooks. Richard was born to Novie, raised in Selma, and grew up with many cousins and his doting grandparents R.M. and Emma Swan Driggers. He served his country for 22 years in the US Navy reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and continued to serve his country with a second career as a military contractor for 18 years.
A memorial service for Richard will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church on Fred George Road at 11:00am on Friday October 8th. In lieu of flower we would like to ask for donations to Big Bend Hospice.
We will also be having a veteran's service at Tallahassee National cemetery at a later date.
