Phil A. Duval, Sr.

Phil was a proud Army veteran where he served for 25+ years and retired. He also was an accomplished welder in and around the Tallahassee area for over 35 years. He started his military career out of high school and was stationed in Alaska. After active duty service, he joined the Reserves and finished his service with the 351st and 400th units at the Army Reserve Center in Tallahassee. Phil also worked at Reeves Welding and then started his own business, Phil's Welding and Buggy Works. After retirement, Phil started a sno-cone business and loved serving kids at local recreational sport complexes around Tallahassee.

He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Tallahassee. He was often referred to as a caring and humble servant. He enjoyed talking to family and friends about his Lord and Savior.

On May 14, 2024, Phil answered the Master’s call. Though we will miss his Earthly presence, we are comforted by the words of 2nd Corinthians 2:8, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

Phil is survived by his children, Susie and Mike Wright, Donna Malphurs, Phil Allen “Buddy” Duval, Craig and Allison Duval and Becky Duval. He was blessed by 17 grandchildren (not all biological, but all loved): Michael Wright, Jonathon Wright, Amanda Malphurs, Justin Malphurs, Makayla Duval, Brittany Zondervan, Justin Cook, Crystal Duval, Jennifer Duval, Tommy Faoutas, Aubrey Taylor, Avery Thomas, Hunter Duval, Joshua Burton, Zachary Burton, Ariana White and Ansley White; 6 great-grandchildren, Michael Allen Wright, Brynn Wright, Skylar Malphurs, Atlas Duval, Tinley Taylor and Kamryn Taylor, his brothers-in law, sisters- in- law and a host of nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Linda J. Mims Duval and his son, David Lamar Duval; parents, Phil and Mary Duval and all of his siblings, Gladys Canter, Mary Finley, James "Jimmy" Duval, Faye Thornhill, Christine Jackson.

A visitation for Phil will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. A a celebration of life will occur Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home Chapel.

Phil will be laid to rest in Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312-1617.
