Born in Mount Vernon, New York, she grew up in Connecticut before her family relocated to Miami where she would go on to meet her husband Paul and graduate from Miami Norland Senior High School. They both moved up to Tallahassee, and after graduating from Florida State in 1973, Patty taught, subbed and tutored for Leon and Wakulla County Schools on and off until her retirement in 2020. She and her husband owned Looper’s Subs on Lafayette St. for 30 years and was still approached when out and about with Looper’s stories and memories from the community.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and loved reading, scrapbooking, cooking, the beach and watching her beloved General Hospital. Above all else, Patty enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt and teacher to many.
She is preceded in death by her husband and soulmate of forty-two years Paul Scranton Jr., also of Tallahassee, as well as her parents, Edward and Regina Quinto, and in-laws Paul and Barbara Scranton Sr.
She is survived by their daughters Elizabeth, 36, (Jonathan) of Tallahassee and a grandson coming in June; Tara, 34, (Stephen) also of Tallahassee and grandson Lennon, 4; her sisters Jackie (Jack) Lindsey and Judy Quinto, both of Tallahassee, sisters-in-law Ginny (Bob) Hazen of Orlando, Kathy (Lyman) Babcock of Tallahassee, and brother-in-law Douglas (Diana) Scranton of Petaluma, California; 11 nieces and nephews and their spouses, and 21 great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
