He was born January 26, 1934, in Landis, North Carolina, the only child of the late Hubert and Olene (Nance) Bradshaw.
Norman proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps, touring Europe and serving in the Korean War.
Upon leaving military service, he served his community as a sworn member of the Florida State University Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. After retiring in 1997, Norman became an avid reader, he enjoyed gardening, often bringing fresh vegetables to friends and neighbors, and spending time with family and friends.
A gifted storyteller, no family gathering was complete without Norman sharing tales from Christmas spent on the front lines, the wild sights he witnessed as a deputy during the 70s and 80s, the adventures he created for his young sons, and his winning turn on the slots in his favorite floating casino.
Norman is survived by his beloved sons Kevin (Louise) Bradshaw of Tallahassee and Brian (Krystin) Bradshaw of Bristol, Rhode Island, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service with military honors will be held Monday, May 16, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Norman’s name to the Friends of the Leon County Public Library. https://cms.leoncountyfl.gov/friendsofthelibrary/Membership/Making-a-Donation-or-Giving-a-Gift
