Michael Leo Moore, Tallahassee born and raised, moved on from this world on April 26, 2023. He was born the only child of John Floyd and Frances Shaw Moore. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kimberly Sherman Moore and their son, Jonathan Shaw Moore, husband of Nicole Moore. He is also survived by cousins, William Hightower, Robin Bellan, Mimi Buffington, Martha Stokes, Buck Gardner, Clay Shaw, Denise Bertleson and Archie F. Gardner.
Mike Moore grew up in Tallahassee, Florida, graduating from Leon High School and Florida State University. Tall, strong and left-handed, he dreamed of pitching in the major leagues. Good looking and musical, he wanted to be a rock star or actor. He did attend the greatest concert in Tallahassee history, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Thunder Review at Tully Gym in 1976. As a compassionate and hard-working counselor, he helped scores of young men turn their lives around in the Juvenile Justice System.
If life’s scorecard was tallied in friends and enemies, Mike Moore pitched a shutout, friends everyone who met him, enemies zero. There were a few times he may have needed those three steps to the door. However, after being introduced to Kimberly in Hawaii, Mike said those final words of bachelorhood, “I just met this amazing girl.” The jealous boyfriends could quit worrying. His proudest, most important job was being a dedicated husband and the full-time father of a young man smart enough and tough enough to become a Naval Special Warfare operator. He will be mourned and missed by all who knew him.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.CulleysMeadowWoodFuneral.com for the Moore family.
