Matt is survived by his parents, Douglas and Cathy; Wife, Victoria; Sister, Kimberly; and more friends than can be counted.
Matt was born on July 6th, 1982, in West Palm Beach, FL to Douglas and Cathy Thompson. He graduated from FSU with a degree in Classical Archaeology and loved it passionately. He married Victoria, his longtime love, in 2009 after convincing her to move to him some years before. He spent many years serving the people of Florida through his work for the state and enjoyed his time with both the Department of Health and the Department of Revenue.
Matt was accomplished at writing and often wrote stories and plots for the various games that he took part in, it is hoped that his characters and his stories will live on through them long after his ashes are spread. He was a bright and generous individual who loved history, puns, coffee, and Marvel comics and who was dedicated to helping others and hoped to always leave people happier and better than he found them.
A celebration of life is being planned for June 6th, what would have been his 40th birthday. A location has not yet been selected, but those who loved him will be notified when it has been. We hope to send him off with a bonfire, happy memories, good drink, fine coffee, and excellent company. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to any charity dedicated to helping others. Matt deeply believed in personal freedoms and mutual support.
Condolences can be sent to https://www.facebook.com/Krynn.Achilleos, as his page is being converted to his public memorial.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and the incredible staff at Big Bend Hospice for being gentle, tireless, and unbelievably kind. They gave the answers that were needed, even if they weren’t what was wanted, and granted him the dignity and grace that he deserved.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.CulleysMeadowWood.com for the Thompson family.
