Larry was born on February 7, 1947 to John Rich Sr. and Marjorie Grindley in Champagne, Illinois and later relocated to Macon, Georgia. On June 20th, 1967, he married the love of his life Virginia and they were married for over 53 years.
Shortly after graduating high school, Larry joined the United States Navy serving on the USS Blandy in the Vietnam War, and was very proud to have served his country. He and his family later relocated to Havana, Florida where he worked as a truck driver for a grocery as well as later owning his own electronic shop in Tallahassee. Larry loved the outdoors, fishing, RC cars and airplanes and playing the guitar.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Ann Browning (J.W.) of Byron, Georgia; Susan Holland of Portland, OR; Jennifer Devaul (Eric) of Loxahatchee, FL, and a son, Lawrence “Tank” Rich of Tallahassee, Florida; a sister, Kitty Merritt (Rob) of Macon, Georgia and a brother, John Rich of Havana, Florida. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Virginia.
A graveside funeral service for Larry will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida 32311.
