Karen Carnes Inman, age 83, died peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.She bravely fought a grade 3 brain tumor and subsequent complications for 4 ½ yrs. A funeral service will be held on Wed., April 6, 2022, at Culleys MeadowWood Funeral Home (1737 Riggins Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32308) at 12 pm. Pastor Rodney West of Pisgah United Methodist Church will be officiating the service.
There will also be a graveside service on Sat., April 9, 2022, 11 am, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, OR (1012 S Bridge St, Baker City, OR 97814) where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband of 48 years, Col. Roger Inman.(Organized by Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel 541-523-3677).
Karen Mae Inman was born in Baker City Oregon on September 16, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth D. Carnes and Virginia Carnes (Carlson). She graduated from Baker High School in 1956 and then, 3 yrs later, earned her Registered Nursing degree and began working as a surgical nurse. In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Roger, who graduated from veterinary school and joined the Air Force.This began their adventure of enjoying living in different parts of the world while raising 4 girls. They settled in Tallahassee, FL in 1984 when Roger started a new career for the Dept. of Agriculture. Karen enjoyed traveling, RVing, fishing, cooking, birding, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family. She volunteered for many organizations in Tallahassee: as a tax consultant at the Senior Center, a voting poll coordinator, the Retired Officers Wives Club, Springtime Tallahassee, and was a member of the FSU University Musical Associates & the Theater Patrons. Karen is survived by her 4 daughters and their spouses: Ann and Eric Gaylord of Huntington Beach, CA; Amy and Bill Demins of Winter Park, FL; Jill Marie Inman and Ken Ryan of Leesburg, VA; Marla and Brian Blair of Tallahassee. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren: Megan and Ryan Gaylord, Robert and Benjamin Landerman, Julia and Keith Inman-Ryan, Sydney Blair, and her sister Judy Brookhart of Baker City, OR.
