John Allan Watson, Sr. died peacefully on February 15th, 2018 in Tallahassee, Florida at the age of 68. Services will be 11am Monday, February 19th at Bradfordville First Baptist Church Thomasville Road with Pastor Dr. Ronny Raines and Pastor Kyle Petty presiding. Family visitation will start at 10am.
He is survived by his wife Teddi Watson of 48 years; his son Jay Watson and wife Rae and their son Caleb; his son Blake Watson and wife Laura and their daughters Bailey and Skye.
He was born on November 17th, 1949 in Nuremburg, Germany to Joseph Berl Watson and Jennie Lou Watson. He graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Criminology and later with a Ph.D. in Educational Policy. He also graduated from St. Leo College with a B.A. in Psychological Evaluation and Measurement and from the University of West Florida with a M.E.D.
For 10 years he worked with the Jack Eckerd Foundation as the Director of a facility for emotionally disturbed boys and girls. He worked for 19 years at the Department of Education as the Senior Program Director for the Public Education Capital Outlay and was also the Statewide Public School Finance Consultant. For the last 17 years he worked at Clemons-Rutherford & Associates, Inc. as the Educational Facility Planner.
John Watson was a musician who played saxophone in several local church orchestras and taught a computer literacy course at Tallahassee Community College. He was active in Optimist International where he served as President, Lt. Governor and District Registrar of the North Florida District and Seminole clubs.
