John Lauris Cheney, Jr, 59, of Tallahassee died Tuesday (1/2) at his home. A native of California he came to Tallahassee in 1981 from Destin. John owned an insurance agency here in Tallahassee and was a Christian by faith. An outdoorsman, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and sports. He played the guitar for relaxation and spent much of his time with family, particularly his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife: Teri; children: Christina (Mike) Higman of St. Petersburg, John (Wendy), III of Tallahassee; brother: Michael (Darlene) of Destin; grandchildren: Isabella, Evangelie, John, IV, Michael, Susanna, Julianna, William, Jemima; he was predeceased by his sister: Dianna and her husband, John Cox of Ardmore, TN also survives him.
