Mr. James (Jim) William Carraway, 67, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019, at his home. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Christian Heritage Church. Services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Heritage Church officiated by Pastor Steve Dow. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Sylvania Cemetery in Faceville, GA.
James was born in Chattahoochee, FL, on December 13, 1951, to Buford Carraway and Lou Bea Carraway. On June 26, 1982 and again on January 17, 2003, he married Sarah Susan Williams in Chattahoochee, FL. He was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School. James worked as a Unit Treatment Rehabilitation Specialist for Florida State Hospital for 30 years until his retirement in 2001. After growing up and living near the lake and river most of his life, he found a true passion for fishing; and in his later years he could be found watching Fox News and/or History Channel absorbing as much knowledge of the world as he could. He was also an avid gun enthusiast and enjoyed collecting guns, knives and swords.
Of all the great things in his life, he was most proud of his son, Derek, and all of his accomplishments in life. He was so happy that Derek had found his true love and that a marriage was in their future and talked frequently about being excited about a future wedding.
He is preceded in death by his father, Buford Carraway; mother, Lou Bea Carraway; and beloved aunt, Clara Kent.
His is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Susan; son, Derek; sister, Lucy Conner (Jon); cousin, Helen Batts; and other cousins. He always considered Sarah’s family as his own.
