Fennville, Michigan on February 21, 1925 to Charles and Ellen Felker and was one of six children.
Immediately upon high school graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served with distinction in World War II, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Medal and three Battle Stars. After discharge Irv returned to Michigan to attend college and earned an Accounting degree. He relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and lived there for more than 50 years. He was very active in the business community, serving as comptroller for several prominent businesses.
Irv was preceded in death by his wife Emma Lowry Felker, his brothers Herman, Charles, Albert, Edward, and his sister Barbara.
Also preceding him in death was his loving wife Juanita Coppenger Felker and grandson Nicholas Coppenger.
He is survived by his son Bill Coppenger and wife Kathy, grandson Andrew Coppenger and wife Kristi, great-granddaughters Ruby and Abby and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
An avid runner and walker, Irv maintained a YMCA membership for more than 50 years. He was a history buff, loved to socialize with friends and especially enjoyed college football. Irv was a devout Christian who offered his time and talent to his church and other charitable needs. He is remembered for his kindness and wonderful positive outlook throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday November 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home on Riggins Road. A burial ceremony with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital or a veterans’ charity of your choice.
