Frances Marie Carter, affectionately known as Marie, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024. Born on July 14, 1938, in Tallahassee, FL, Marie was the beloved daughter of Paul Curtis Carter and Susie Frances Carter (née Thompson), who preceded her in death.
Marie attended Florida High School and went on to work for the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, where she made significant contributions throughout her career. A lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Marie’s strong faith was a guiding force in her life.
Marie had a passion for gardening, crocheting, and sewing, pursuits that brought her great joy and allowed her to share her creativity with others. Her love for these hobbies was matched only by her affection for her family.
Marie is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Ann Miller and Pauline Spooner, as well as many nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. Her family and friends will remember her warmth, kindness, and the deep love she had for them.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother-in-laws Jim Miller and Wayne Spooner.
The family would like to thank Key Jefferson for her care and support to Marie.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM and a reception at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home - Timberlane Road Chapel.. Burial will take place at Tallahassee Memory Gardens following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or a charity of choice in Marie’s memory.
Marie’s legacy of faith, love, and creativity will continue to inspire and be cherished by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed but fondly remembered.
