He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, followed by a career in telecommunications. After more than 30 years with Southern Bell and AT&T, he retired to Tallahassee Florida
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Martha, and their three children: Doug Klaymeier and Michelle Skeans of San Antonio Texas; Debbie Faircloth and husband Leon of Panama City, Florida; and Barbara Wills and husband Eric of Tallahassee Florida. He is also survived by his brother Roger Klaymeier and wife Ruth of Lutz Florida, sister Lila Babcock of Garland, Texas and sister-in-law Carolyn Chandler of Fort Worth, Texas.
Ed was a fun and loving grandfather to eight grandchildren: Devin Klaymeier of San Antonio, Texas; Nathan Klaymeier and wife Cassie of San Antonio, Texas; Ryan Faircloth and wife Kellie of Panama City, Florida; Alyssa Faircloth and husband Will McAlister, of Clearwater, Florida; and Charlie, Erica, Jake and Sam Wills of Tallahassee Florida. He was a proud, great grandfather to Parker and Luke Faircloth of Panama City and recently welcomed a step great granddaughter to the family, Harley McAlister.
He enjoyed traveling in retirement with his wife, Martha, reading books and collecting stamps. Ed will be remembered for his sense of humor, his ability to fix nearly anything and the collection of tools he left behind in his garage.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church, 1560 Pedrick Road, Tallahassee.
