Christine Marie McKendree

Christine was born at home in Nassau County on December 25, 1934 to Pasco and Ethel Fouraker. She and her husband, James (Jimmy), moved to Tallahassee, FL, in September of 1958, making Tallahassee their lifelong home where they raised their three children. They began attending Southside Baptist Church, which later became Gospel Light Baptist Church, soon after moving to Tallahassee, and continued to be faithful members until their passing. They loved their church and church family and rarely missed a service. She worked in Toddler's Church, Children's Church and with the Youth when her kids were in those stages of life. Many, many teenager friends were always welcomed into their home. Christine retired from the Leon County Circuit Clerk's office after more than 20 years of employment and enjoyed life being a homemaker, a grandma and a friend to many. She was a wonderful cook and loved making meals for her family and was best known for her delicious cakes that she would "stir up" regularly. She also loved to decorate cakes including making doll cakes for her granddaughters. She was known for her laugh and her wit, and she made everyone feel so welcomed, whether to her church or her home or when meeting new friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a constant source of joy, bringing laughter and happiness to her life. Spoiling them was her love language, especially when it came to letting them have sweet tea and treats. They all loved her dearly.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Pasco and Ethel Fouraker; her brothers, Harold Fouraker and Frank Fouraker; and her husband, James. She is survived by her children: Thomas McKendree (Sharon), Sharon Allbritton (Bobby), and Greg McKendree (Susan), all of Tallahassee; her sister, Roberta Miller (Ron) of Bryceville, FL; her brother, Harry Fouraker (Pam) of Jacksonville, FL; her sister-in-law, Gloria Fouraker of Palatka, FL; 9 Grandchildren: Jennifer Rivera (Chris), Robby Allbritton (Ashley), Matthew McKendree, Richy Allbritton (Kathleen), Andy McKendree (Leann), Kelly Bane (Michael), Kendall Curry (Brian), Courtney McKendree and Dustin Mckendree; 13 Great Grandchildren and more on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday December 16, 2024, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 3415 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL 32311. Family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM before the service. Burial will follow at MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road.
