Born in the Swint family of Augusta, Georgia on August 11, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Caroline Swint, Carolyn had ten brothers and sisters. A singer since childhood, she grew up to become an entrepreneur, founding Nature's Way Flower Farm and cornering the flower farming and dried flower products market in Southern Ohio for many years. She was a hard worker who could lay up bricks, dig a ditch or put on a roof. She loved to fish, but throughout all of this, she was a lady. A generous heart with a magnetic smile, she never met a stranger. She loved everyone she met as much as they all loved her. She sang until the very end. She had a spirit that will be missed on this earth by her family and friends alike.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Dewey Gaddis of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; four children: David and Doris Riley of Marion, Ohio, Michael Connell of Tallahassee, Florida, Debra Riley of Dublin, Ohio and Kathy Crago of Harrison, Ohio; stepdaughter, Marley Gaddis and stepson Joel Gaddis, both of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law and three sisters: Thomas and Sarah Swint of Harlem, Georgia, Shirley White and Donna Pottle both of Tallahassee, Florida, and Barbara Harsh of Springfield, Ohio; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to recognize Halifax Hospice, who skillfully assisted Carolyn near the end.
A visitation will be held August 30, 2019 at 11am at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. Funeral services will begin at 11:30am at Culley's Funeral Home with interment to follow at MeadowWood Memorial Park.
