Beverley and her twin sister were born July 1939 in Benton City, Missouri to Genevieve and Paul Barker. After graduating from Rural Route 6 High School in Mexico, Missouri, Beverley convinced her twin to join her in testing and interviewing for a job with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The young pair were eagerly hired and moved to Washington D.C. to work at the Bureau Headquarters. Beverley worked there for several years until she met and married Jim Whitaker, her beloved husband of 44 years. After having her first child, she stayed home to care for her children. When her youngest was in High School, she worked several sessions in the Office of the Florida Senate President.
Bev had a quick wit, a level head, a down to earth faith, and a caring heart. She practiced the lost art of being a good listener, which helped make her an amazing mom and a treasured friend . She could do almost anything she tried and was always willing to help someone else.
She was an active member of Capital City Christian Church where she worshipped and served for over 40 years.
She is survived by her son Dwight and wife Mary Whitaker of Hiram, Ga; her daughter Pam and husband John Forrest of Tallahassee, Fl; her twin sister Shirley and husband Norman Kruse of New Carrollton, Md; younger brother Lyndy and wife Ruthie Barker of Mexico, Mo and brother-in-law Glenn and Lura Whitaker of Covington, Ga; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Genevieve Barker, her husband Jim Whitaker and her older brother Howard Barker.
