Barbara J. Yarbrough, 67, went home to be to be with her Lord and savior May 8, 2013, after a brave and valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, Ron Yarbrough and her family. She was under the care of Big Bend Hospice for the final stages of her life.
Barbara was born June 23, 1945, in Panama City, Florida, and she has lived in Tallahassee since a young child. She graduated from Florida High and went on to have a career of nearly fifty years as a comptroller in the Tallahassee Hotel Industry. She worked at the round Holiday Inn for seventeen years. She joined her husband for 25 years at the Radisson Hotel and later the Duval Hotel. Barbara enjoyed the beach, fishing, traveling and cruising.
She was loved and respected by hundreds of employees in the hotel industry. Every hotel owner and all the employees she worked with said she was the best.
She is survived by two sons, Orris (Tad) Herring and his wife Brenda of Havana and John Herring and his wife Julie of Australia; four grandchildren, Damon, Mathew, Reese and Susan Herring; one great granddaughter, Bella. Other survivors include Kim and Josh Connel of Thomasville and two grandchildren Sara and Eli Connel. There are also several aunts and uncles in the Tallahassee area. She was a loving and caring mother to all her family.
She is predeceased by her parents, John Henry and Ruby Williams.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home Riggins Road Chpel. Graveside funeral services will be held 3:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery.
