On November 3, 1978 she married Thomas Wright, they enjoyed life in Florida and North Carolina through the years. Some of their favorite time was in the mountains of western North Carolina where they had many pets, enjoyed time on Lake Hiwassee, and planted lots of fruit trees, shrubs, and flowers. They then moved to the east coast of North Carolina where they became active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Angie was a coxswain for Flotilla 20-04 in New Bern, NC where she was auxiliarist of the year in 2010.
Angie was a gifted floral designer and worked with two large florists in South Florida, “Food Among the Flowers” and “David Harrison Florist.” These florists decorated for large weddings and events in the Miami area in which Angie was instrumental in assisting with the floral designs allowing her artistic abilities to shine through. When given the opportunity, Angie’s favorite floral creations incorporated aspects of nature, such as leaves, pinecones, and branches, as was evident throughout her home. Her family knew to come to her for design ideas and for help making the best bows ever! Angie continued to work as a floral designer until 2020.
Angie’s love for the water was present from an early age. As a child she spent time on Lake St. Clair in Michigan with her family and then the waterways of South Florida. She enjoyed sailing, boating, kayaking, and spending time on the beach or by the pool. Angie also enjoyed sports, she played field hockey as a kid and loved to watch football. She was an avid Miami Dolphins fan from the good days of the 1972 undefeated Super Bowl team, through the Dan Marino (who she always had a crush on) era, and even today when the team struggles to win; Angie was a Fins fan for life. She enjoyed nothing more than a Super Bowl party and hosted many through the years making the best dips around. Angie’s love for horses and dogs was present throughout her life; any dog or cat that crossed her path found a home. She especially enjoyed paso fino horses and the Florida State University mascot, Renegade. Angie was also a skilled seamstress. She made many beautiful quilts and knitted blankets for family, friends, and to be donated.
