Alma Lee Wells was born in Quincy, Florida to Harmon and Juanita Sadberry. She graduated from Quincy High School and also attended Tennessee Temple University. After her schooling, she took a job in Tallahassee, Florida where she met the love of her life, and husband of 57 years, Jimmy Wells. They were married three months later and from there, their jobs took them to Mississippi where they would stay for four years.
They had their first born son, Darron Wells, and moved back to Tallahassee where they would have their second child, and first daughter, Dawn Wells. They continued their life together and created a successful business that still thrives in the capital city today.
Alma worked most of her life as a bookkeeper for the automotive business (Jim Wells Tire Center) and taught two more generations how to keep a successful business going. In her free time, she found joy in tending to her vegetable garden and admiring the hummingbirds. She also loved spending the holidays with her family and decorating her Christmas tree. Most of all, she loved spending time at Mexico Beach where they had a house for 35 years. Her favorite things to do were lay in the sun and fish off the beach. She will be remembered for her love, her kindness, and for her laughter.
Alma is predeceased by her son, Darron Wells, and is survived by her husband, Jimmy Wells; daughter, Dawn Wells, and five grandchildren; Ashley Hudson (Alex), Jordan Crawford, Courtney Wells, Adam Crawford, and Luke Crawford.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Fellowship Baptist Church on N. Monroe Street from 11am - 1pm and a memorial service will follow immediately after.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Fellowship Baptist Building Fund or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
