Tommy Ray Parker, or Tom to his family, was born on April 16th, 1938, in the Cookson area, the son of Ralph and Nola Mae (Ballard) Parker. He was raised at home with seven brothers and one sister, roaming around the Burnt Cabin area, chasing whip snakes with his brother Bill. He attended Pigeon school. At age 17, Tom went to work for Layman Brothers Construction, working in the Tulsa area. While working, he met Annabelle Stanley. And they were wed on Christmas Eve of 1957 in Tulsa, OK. They resided in the Tulsa area, and together they raised one daughter and one son, Roxanne and Dennis. The family relocated to the Inola Community and resided there the rest of their lives. Tom continued working construction for the next 40 years. His time away from work was spent fishing on Lake Tenkiller and visiting family and friends, sharing a cup of coffee and a story or two. He doted on his grand and great grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Every chance he had, they were treated to McDonalds for lunch and a new pair of red Roper boots! He loved people and had a giving spirit. Many times as a kid, he remembered his family going to the neighbors when they needed help, and caring for the sick, doing their chores anything to make life a little better. He continued his giving spirit long after he left Tahlequah. Tom and Annabelle enjoyed taking Skeet and Marie Torix, the in laws, to listen to Bluegrass music. His Annabelle passed in 2003, and Tom stayed close by his family. His health began to fail him and he passed from this life on May 30th, 2017 in Catoosa with his loved ones by his side. Tom was 79 years old. He leaves a void that will be terribly hard to fill. He’s resting with his Annabelle, listening to the bluegrass music in a far more beautiful place.
