Ted Matlock was born on August 14th, 1932 in Park Hill, OK, the son of Ted and Matilda Ann (Monhollond) Matlock. He attended Tahlequah High School but finished later due to military service. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and retired in July of 1971 as a Technical Sargent in the 67th Supply Squadron at Mountain Home Air Force Base. He married Agnus Turner (deceased) September 1951. They had three children; Patti, Wayne and Mike.
He married Doris Dunn on March 18th, 1972. Ted loved his family and his friends at work. He went the extra mile to make the way a little easier for somebody else. He loved to spend his free time either bowling with friends, and eventually began a second job at the bowling alley at NSU. Ted also became quite accomplished at welding and blacksmithing, forging metal into useful shapes and objects. Ted became quite accomplished in this art and soon was able to make his own gates and often for neighbors as well. He loved the great outdoors and spending time just enjoying nature. A Christian by faith, Ted attended the Cornerstone Fellowship Church. The Lord called Ted home from his labors on Saturday, February 25th, 2012 in Claremore, OK. He was 79 years old. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends for his acts of generosity and his unselfish way of doing for others.
Ted is preceded in death by his mother, his father, and his step-father, John McFarland.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Doris of the home in Tahlequah. His children include his sons, Mike Matlock and wife Brenda of Keifer. OK, Wayne Matlock and wife Cindy of Mounds, OK. his daughter is Patty Matlock and husband Buddy May of Tahlequah,OK, stepsons Paul Turner and wife Louise of Nixa,MO, Tim Turner of Rogers, AR, and Chris Turner and wife Nikki of Murrieta, CA. Ted also leaves one brother, Herbert McFarland and Maryann of Ponca City, OK, as well as two sisters, Helen Hall and husband Bob of Park Hill,OK and Mae Dallis and husband Kenneth also of Park Hill,OK. His legacy will live on in his 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
