She worked as a food service worker in the Peggs School System for many years, retiring in 1995. She married Leamon Garrison on March 23rd, 1944 , and together they raised two sons and three daughters. They shared a wonderful, loving relationship until Leamon’s passing in 1996. Marie, as she was known to her friends and family, was a very active lady. She was sweet, kind and loving. Those who knew her well remember that she was never one to complain about life’s situations. She was a gifted cook and loved to delight her family with her chicken and dumplings and made an egg custard pie that was only rivaled by her mother’s. She liked a day spent at the fishing hole with her family, relaxing in the great outdoors. She raised flower gardens and liked to work in her yard. She spent her quiet time playing dominos and working puzzles. Daily devotion was given to reading her Bible and praying for those she loved. The grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy, and she made sure she attended as many of their events as possible. She adored her family and anytime spent with them was a special highlight in her life. A Christian by faith, she was a member of the Cornerstone Fellowship Church. The Lord called Marie to her Eternal Home on March 22nd, 2013 in Tahlequah, OK with her loved ones by her side. Marie was 89 years old.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Leamon, three brothers, Orville, Owen, and LeRoy Williams and two sisters, Edna Durrett and Verlin “Dude” Durrett.
