Broken Arrow, OK- Robert Bruce James , formerly of Sacramento, CA, passed from this life on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at Tulsa, OK with his family by his side.
Robert Bruce James was born on December 3rd, 1935, in Hibbing, MN, the son of John Henry and Ennie Maria (Maki) James. He graduated from Hibbing High School in Hibbing, MN. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, and served honorably from 1954 until 1958. He then completed another 4 years in the reserves. He also attended the University of Minnesota. He spent most of his career in power plant construction management. This career would take him to Iowa, Minnesota, Western New York and Texas. He then became a property manager in California for the Walters Management Company. He was the proud father of two children, Diane James-Schultz and Mark James. In 1978 he met Cheryl Marshall, and they were joined in holy matrimony on June 21st, 1980 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bovey, MN, enjoying 40 years of memories and adventures. Robert remained active with military organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars as a member of the Honor Guard. He loved sports, and loved a good round of golf, or watching his favorite teams , the Vikings and the Chicago Bears play ball. He also taught Pop Warner youth football and coached the younger generations to enjoy the sport as much as he did. He was an active member of the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church in Fair Oaks, CA and finally the Fellowship Lutheran Church in Tulsa, OK. He and Cheryl moved to Broken Arrow OK Oct. 2014. He liked people and was a friend to anyone who needed him. He loved visiting with family and liked to keep up with grandkids activities. His health began to fail him and he passed from this life on August 6th, 2020 in Tulsa. He was 84 years, 8 months and 3 days old and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl James of the home in Broken Arrow, OK and his children, Diane Schultz and husband Derek of Wheatland, CA and Mark James of Longview, WA, his step sons Peter Lyman and Jeffrey Lyman of Grand Rapids MN and nephews and nieces. He lives on in his many grand and great grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date.
