Raymond Washington was born on August 22nd, 1931 in Qualls, OK, the son of William and Jennie (Sequichie) Washington. He attended Pigeon School at Qualls. He was a laborer by trade and worked in agricultural pursuits. When he wasn’t working, Raymond loved to play music. He loved to play guitar, and could be found playing country music every chance he got. He was just as talented with singing a good country tune. He enjoyed a day at the fishing hole with family or friends. There was nothing better than taking a drive in the country side and seeing the sights. He enjoyed time spent with his constant companion Colida Dreadfulwater , and his favorite canine companions. He was a man of vision and had no problems in voicing his opinion concerning any subject he was asked about. Raymond was proud of his Cherokee heritage. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed time spent in their company sharing a cup of coffee or having a family sing. He was a member of the Night Hawk Society, and attended stomp dances every chance he could. He went home to his eternal resting place on November 28th, 2012 in Tahlequah, OK with his family by his side. Raymond was 81 years old. Raymond, or “Hollywood” as they loving called him, will be missed by his family and his many country western singing fans.
