Paula Sue Washington, or “Susie” or “Auntie” to her many family and friends, was born on May 27th, 1957 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Frank R. and Bluie Carrol (Ollis) Deckard. She was one of seven children in this family. She attended school in Tahlequah and later, attended NSU. Susie was a homemaker by choice, making a home for her husband, children, grandchildren and family. She was the proud mother of five children, Carol, Marsha, Darla, Roy, and Marshal. She could be found at home keeping house, sewing everything from clothing to quilts, and constantly cooking. Susie’s home was an open door invitation for family and friends to gather together and share a meal. You were always made to feel warm and welcome. Her grandchildren were the best part of her day, and she never missed the chance to follow their endeavors at sports or any school function they tried. She thought they were the most precious part of her, and she was proud of each and every one of them. She was thoughtful, kind and had a way of making you smile. Her health began to fail her, and she passed from this life too soon on Tuesday, March 10th, 2015, at her home. She was 57 years old. She leaves an empty space that no one can ever fill, but will be remembered for all the love she showed those around her.
Susie is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Hank Washington Jr. (Baby Hank), two brothers, Marshall Deckard, and Frankie Ralph Deckard Jr., two sisters, Sherry and Carol Jean Deckard, and her grandparents, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Hank Washington of the home in Peggs. She leaves her five children, Carol Buttery and husband Barry Jr. of Peggs, Marsha Hix-Washington of Tahlequah, Darla VanBuskirk and husband Chris of Moody, Roy Teaney Jr. and companion Tonya Johnson of Peggs, and Marshal Washington also of Peggs. Her brothers and sister include Frankie Deckard of Tahlequah, Tony Deckard and companion Odell Stunkard of Dallas, TX, Sheila D. Blossom and husband Bobby of Welling, and Jackie Hollowell and husband Glenn of Arkansas. Her legacy and love of life live on in her twelve grandchildren, Katelyn, Trynity, Levi, Jeb, Kathy, Jadyn, Ethan, Zeke, Leah, Kylee, Natalie, and Payzlee. There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friend and loved ones.
